another new event for 2005!
building on from the success of the catalunya raids, this raid will explore the motorcycling mecca of the spanish pyrenees. simon brampton, rat pack leader of quality bike in barcelona, is once again the driving force behind this event and we promise you an outstanding and memorable weekend in spain. this raid will combine excellent riding with superb accommodation and food-what a perfect blend! all of the accommodation used during the raid is based in paradores. these are luxury hotels based in buildings of historical impotance,with the building and location being spectacular. part of the aim of each parador is to maintain the best regional cooking, which is served in their restaurants.if you have never stayed in a parador you will be amazed! also new for this year, is a choice of two or three night options on the raid. this is account for those who wish to ride to spain and those who prefer to take the ferry. however you arrive, we promise you some of the best riding in europe during a fantastic weekend.
we will be based on friday and saturday evening at the historic parador in la seu d'urgell, located 10 kms from andorra on the spanish side. this restored monastery, located in the old quarter, is situaded next to the catedral and comes fully equipped with the facilities that you would expect on a rat raid.
the ride will leave at 9 am on saturday morning and venture high into the pyrenees. our destination is the capital of the aran region, vielha. this beautiful area, famous for having its own language and culture, combines magnificient riding with awe-inspiring scenery. the day will include a lunch stop, and we will return to our parador with time to relax before our dinner and prize giving ceremony.
sunday and what a day! we will depart from la seu d'urgell to logroño, the capital of la rioja.tracing the n240, a very famous and popular biking route, we will stop for lunch along the way near huesca.
